Description
Growing on ancient sand dunes under a mature forest of coastal kanuka. Other orchids to be seen there include Corybas trilobus 'pygmy' and Pterostylis alobula with which it grows sympatrically, Gastrodia 'long column' and Drymoanthus adversus which is plentiful through that section of forest. Acianthus sinclairii is commonly found growing with Cyrtostylis throughout the Upper South Island. These colonies are unusual in that they do not.
