SUMMARY
Plant: A terrestrial herb.
Stem: erect, 1-1.5 cm long
Leaf: solitary, ovate-cordate, acuminate, 1.3-3.5 cm long, 1-2.4 cm wide, dull purple-green above with purple veins, the underside deep purple with light green veins
Peduncle: very short
Bract: linear, acuminate, 6 mm long.
Ovary: 3 mm long
Flower: with a purplish-red dorsal sepal, faintly striped whitish inside, white lateral sepals and a purplish-red lip with a large mauve-cream patch inside
Dorsal sepal: obovate, cucullate, obtuse, 1.8 cm long, 1 cm wide, pubescent on hooded part with crested veins on outside
Lateral sepals: filamentous, 1.8-2.5 cm long, 1 mm wide
Lateral petals: filamentous, 1.8-2.5 cm long, 1 mm wide
Labellum: strongly recurved in middle, tubular in basal half, the apical lamina orbicular, 1.5 cm long, 1.3 cm wide, pubescent, with an entire margin
Spurs: 2 short, obtuse
Type: Bougainville, Craven & Schodde 175 (holotype CANB, isotype LAE!).
Distribution: Bougainville
Ecology: In moss cushions in lower montane forest
Elevation: 780 m.
