SUMMARY
Tuber: globose, 2mm in diameter
Rhizome: spreading horizontally, villous
Cataphyll: triangular, folded acute to acuminate 3-5 x 2mm.
Leaf: sessile, cordate, acute, abruptly narrowed to a very short mucro, dark green with very few lighter conspicuous veins, main vein 14mm, blade 12mm wide at the widest point, basal lobes to 3 x 6mm, slightly overlapping, the margins flat or slightly undulating, with sparse crystal bodies scattered through the blade.
Bract: to 9 x 1mm.
Dorsal sepal: narrowly and deeply hooded, white, with a narrow, channeled, 9 x 3mm claw, the blade ovate in outline, 5 x 4mm, with 5-7 low abaxial ridges
Lateral sepals: to 11 x 0.5mm at the base, adnate to the petals in the basal 1 mm only
Lateral petals: 6-7mm long, connate basally for 5mm
Labellum: funnel-shaped, the funnel mouth facing upwards at 45°, predominantly purplish, the base pale, erect, and with inrolled margins, forming a tube with the dorsal sepal 4 x 3mm, abruptly reflexed and spreading, the margin finely and rather evenly denticulate, in frontal view the throat pale pink, the blade with close, deep purple lines radiating and a narrow intra-marginal white bank, the margin itself deep purple, blade 5-7mm in diameter
Spurs: diverging, 2.5 x 1mm, white with a reddish base
Column: 1 x 0.7mm.
Type: Sumatra, J.B.Comber 1742 (Holotypus K; isotypus BO).
Distribution: SUMATRA. North Sumatra, Merek-Sidikalang road, 1550m, 22 Feb. 1988, J.B. Comber 1742 (holotype K; isotype BO)
Ecology: Dense montane forest in rather heavy shade, in leaf litter on a low ridge.
