Rhizome: to 50 x 2mm, villous 

Stem: white, to 40 x 2mm, angled 

Cataphyll: to 9 mm long, narrow-triangular, apiculate 

Leaf: sessile, cordate, acuminate, strongly undulate, sometimes almost crenulate, dull bluish green with very faint slightly raised veins, matt surface, and abundant white dots due to raphide crystals, the main vein to 20 mm, the blade 15 mm wide at widest point, the basal lobes close, to 5 x 7 mm  

Bract: translucent, erect or slightly curved, 8 x 1 mm, also with crystal bundles 

Ovary: green, to 5 x 2 mm  

Dorsal sepal: erect below, curved above, oblong, 25 mm long, 5 mm wide at the base, increasing in width towards the apex, narrowed to a triangular or rounded, rarely mucronate, cucullate tip, the midline with a pronounced, somewhat erose keel to 1 mm high and inconspicuous sinuous lateral keels, the whole pale crimson throughout, very rarely dirty pink 

Lateral sepals: free, to 30 mm, threadlike, +/- erect, crimson below, white apically 

Lateral petals: to 20 mm long, threadlike, held horizontally, connate in the basal 5-7 mm to form a strap, dull crimson basally, white distally 

Labellum: erect in the lower half with margins incurved and forming a tube with the dorsal sepal, strongly reflexed distally and expanded with margins eventually becoming flat, the blade to 10 x 15 mm, +/- rounded, mouth of throat shallowly concave, with a conspicuous central mid-crimson, flattened, slightly papillose area to 5 x 5 mm, distal to this the lip very deep crimson, coarsely papillose, with papillae to 0-4 mm; wings of the lip white, conspicuously marked with 3-4 parallel, longitudinal, deep crimson lines, the surface +/- smooth; margin of lip white, entire in lower half, very strongly toothed distally, the teeth 0-5-1 mm long  

Spurs: 2, tending to curve towards each other, 4-6 x 1-5 mm, conical, deep crimson  

Column: c. 3-5 mm long   

Distribution: MALAY PENINSULA. Pahang/Selangor, Genting Highlands, Dransfield 4952 (holotype K), Dransfield 5230 (K). Pahang, G. Tahan, Holttum 20594 (SING).

Ecology: On moss banks in mossy upper montane forest
